MediaLaws is pleased to share the call for papers for the international conference “Irrationality and the Age of AI: Language, Ethics, and the Future of Human Expression“, organised by the University of Bonn (May 18 – 20, 2026).

This conference aims to explore the profound impact of the AI revolution, propelled by Large Language Models (LLMs), as it shifts focus from rational problem-solving to aspects of human life once considered the last strongholds of humanity, namely emotions and irrationality.

Through a transdisciplinary and comparative approach, this event will convene expertise from computer science, linguistics, philosophy, ethics, psychology, and social sciences. The goal is to critically discuss the role of affective computing, conversational AI models, and recommender systems, while addressing the paradox of technological progress: the deeper AI mirrors the human mind, the more social and political collateral damage resulting from human irrationality becomes visible.

The discussions will highlight technical dimensions of AI, its impact on human experience and culture, and the fundamental philosophical, ethical, and normative frameworks for shaping desirable futures.

Abstracts (in English), of approx. 250-300 words, should have a title and a brief bibliographical note.

Abstracts must be submitted before December 1st 2025.
